Chinese App ban: India to ban 47 more apps
With respect to security, the government of India had banned 59 Chinese Apps to “protect national interest and security”. They were banned under the provision of section 69A of Information Technology. It took place in June last week that included popular apps like TikTok, CanScanner, SHAREit, and UC browser. After banning 59 Chinese apps the Indian Government is likely to extend this Chinese App ban to 47 more apps.
Chinese App ban: List of Apps to be added
Confirmed apps according to DD News
The DD News is the government news channel it tweeted about the ban on 47 Chinese apps. As per there tweet, the 47 new apps will include all the duplicate app of the 59 apps which were previously banned. Whereas, the government has not released any date on when this event will take place(or any notification about the 47 apps). Although there is a report by India Today TV that indicates a list of 250 apps is to be examined on the basis of user privacy and national security violation. They added that if any of these apps violate the norms might be added to the list of 106 apps.
There has been a rumour of banning the most popular Chinese game app after TikTok that, PUBG Mobile would a part of the new apps banned list. But the government has not declared anything related to this and pertaining to the development.
Action on the previous
The previous app banned included popular apps like Tiktok, CamScanner, BeautyPlus, SHAREit, and UC Browser, and many more. Earlier the government had ordered the telcos to block the user access of these apps on the app as well as their websites. Recently they have realised a decision publicly through a press release about removing the banned apps. It led to both Goggle and Apple to remove these apps from their app store.
