iPhone 8 to be priced at $999; Apple TV to support 4K; to be unveiled on September 12th
Apple is rumoured to launch a new iPhone which is not new. But the new thing is it is going to be Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone with a radical redesign. Although Apple is yet to send out invites the September 12th event will most probably be there to launch the iPhone 8. Like every year leakers and rumour spreaders are working hard to give us as much information as possible. Earlier leaks suggested that it will start at $1,000 (~₹64000). A separate leak also suggests apple maybe be refreshing its Apple TV to give it the ability to stream 4K content and more.
A New York Times reports citing people familiar with the matter suggest the price to be around $999 (~₹64,000). While the earlier reports suggesting iPhone 8 to be well over $1000 and now this report suggests that the base storage model will start at $999 with prices as high as $1200. This will make the iPhone 8 the highest priced iPhone by a large margin. Currently, the most expensive production iPhone is the iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB of storage. It costs $969(~₹62,000) which is cheaper than the expected base model of the iPhone 8. The iPhone 8’s base model is rumoured to be 64GB with options of 128GB and 512GB. The devices will come with 3D face recognition and wireless charging as a standard.
A separate report from Bloomberg claims Apple is planning to launch a 5th Generation Apple TV and a new Apple watch series 3 along with the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. The report also says the new Apple Tv will be able to stream 4K content. If you don’t know 4K is twice the horizontal and vertical width than 1080p full-HD essentially 4 times more pixels than 1080p. Apple will reportedly also upgrade the TV app to provide streaming services as well.
That being said, the new Apple TV will require a 4K resolution TV to go with it. Also, it will now be able to stream HDR videos. It is sure that the Apple will update the Apple TV because it was last updated in 2015. It is about time Apple bumped it upto today’s standards.
The September event is gonna be packed with new iPhones and new Apple watch with LTE connectivity and much more. The iPhone 8 is expected to have native AR support, 3D camera, facial recognition, bezel-less led display, vertical dual cameras and better waterproofing. Also, it might ship with the Apple Airpods in the box.
