Meet the new LG G6+, with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and much more
LG just launched a upgraded version of the LG G6 with more RAM and storage and new colors. Officially termed as LG G6+, the G6+ comes with a upgraded ram, more storage and brings new colors.
The launch marks LG adopting the strategy which has worked well for companies like Samsung and Apple in the past with offering multiple versions of their flagship instead of one for all of the LG. This being said the expected LG V30 might follow the same path.
The LG G6 Plus features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage, compared to 4GB and 64GB on the LG G6. Despite what the moniker might suggest, the G6 Plus is not larger than the regular G6. In fact, all specifications, other than the RAM and storage space, are identical, including the 5.7-inch QHD+ display with rounded corners, the Snapdragon 821 processor, the dual 13MP cameras, and 3,300 mAh battery.
It was really wished that the G6+ should have snapdragon 835 instead on the 821, but looks like LG prioritizes speedy releases instead of a better hardware releasing in the future.
The LG G6+ also has wireless charging. It can be argued that the G6 also had wireless charging, but it was only available in the Northern America Variant. Lets hope same doesn’t happen with the G6+. Also it has two new color variant namely Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold, which employ a lenticular film to create the namesake optical effect.
In addition, new software features are coming both to the LG G6 Plus and the LG G6 (LG said both models will receive software updates simultaneously):
- Face Print to take on the Galaxy S8’s face recognition to help unlock in less than a second.
- Low Power Consumption is an always-on mode .
- Covered Lens will warn users when their fingers are detected in the phone’s wide-angle camera field of view.
The LG G6+ is available on South Korea but LG specified it will go on sale in other markets as well. Pricing and specific availability will be revealed later, but from a previous leak, we believe the device will cost around $100 more than the G6.
