Iconic Nokia 3310, relaunched and Nokia 3,5,6 Launched Globally
The Nokia WMC 2017 event grabbed breaths of many people with HMD Global launching the all new Nokia 3310 (2017 edition). Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 Arte Black Edition were also unveiled at the event. Also HMD Global announced the global availability of the Nokia 6 along with several other announcements.
As everyone expected the Nokia 3310 made a comeback in a all new look and enhanced capabilities. The 3310 comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA colored display, 2.5G network connectivity, and Nokia Series 30+ operating system. It comes with 1200 mAh Battery and a promised standby time of 1 month. It also has a 2MP rear camera with LED flash.
With the classic snake game making a return with the 3310 the device will be globally launched at a price tag of €49 (₹3,500). It will come in 4 colors Warm Red, Yellow, Drak Blue,Grey.
Last Month, HMD Global announced the Nokia 6, exclusively for China. In the WMC 2017, HMD Global announced the global availability of the Nokia 6 along with a special Arte Black Model. The smartphone price has been set to €229 (₹16,000) around the Chinese edition price as predicted. It will be available in South Asian markets like India in Q2 2017. However the Chinese edition had 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage and the global edition will have 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage.
Other key specifications include 5.5-inch 1080p display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass. Snapdragon 430 SoC with miro-sd support up to 128 GB and Stock Android 7.0 . For photography, Nokia 6 has a 16-megapixel rear camera on the back and 8-megapixel camera in front. The Nokia 6 is backed by a 3000mAh non-removable battery and a hybrid Dual-Sim tray.
The Arte Black Special edition sports a gloss black body, same as iPhone 7 Jet Black and sports a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. Other feature remain same. It will retail for €299 (₹21,000).
The Nokia 5, is introduced as a compact smartphone with only a 5.2-inch display. Nokia 5 will retail at €189 (₹13,500) and features a fingerprint sensor, like the Nokia 6. It is powered by the Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM, and comes with 16GB inbuilt storage; it supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB). For the photography, Nokia 5 has a 13-megapixel camera on the back and 8-megapixel camera in front. Other features of the smartphone include Micro-USB 2.0, NFC, 3000mAh battery, and 4G LTE support. It will rum on stock Android 7.1.1. The only design differences in the Nokia 5 with respect to Nokia 6 is the plastic body instead of a metal body.
This will be the cheapest Nokia Android phone in the market. The Nokia 3 is designed for those who want a smartphone with premium design at budget price. Retailed at €139 (₹9,800), the device has a poly carbonate body and metallic frame on the sides. It has a 5-inch display, Stock Android 7.0 operating system, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 chipset, 16GB internal storage, up to 128GB microSD card support, microUSB 2.0, NFC, 2650mAh battery, and 8-megapixel cameras on the front and back.
Snake in Facebook Messenger?
Even if you don’t end up purchasing the Nokia 3310 (2017) feature phone, you can still play a quick game of Snake in Facebook Messenger. The new game is a lot more colourful than the original iteration, and can be played in the Facebook Messenger app under the Games tab as well as in the new Nokia 3310.
Among other news, Withings fitness company acquired by Nokia in June last year adopts the Nokia name. We might be seeing Nokia branded fitness trackers in the future. Also Nokia went in a partnership with Xiaomi to provide its optic-fibre network to Xiaomi for them to provide their private cloud services.
HMD Global is banking heavily on nostalgia to bring in the first wave of customers with the Nokia 3310 2017 edition. Also missing in this event was a premium flagship device. We hope Nokia enters premium segment and launches a flagship for the market soon.
