OnePlus to fix OnePlus 7 Pro “Random shutdown issue” via OTA update
Numerous OnePlus 7 Pro users have reported random shutdown issue with their new smartphones. The smartphone’s screen just freezes and then after a few hits on the power button the phone restarts. There was no certain time lag between the shutdowns, but the problem was there. OnePlus 2 also had a similar issue after being dipped into a bucket of water.
There are over 100 complaints in a single thread on the OnePlus Community forums. Some users have also posted separate forum posts to highlight the issue.
In the forums, the temporary solution to this problem was mentioned as Hard-reset of the phone using the fast-boot method. No-one would like to re-setup their new smartphone after only a few weeks of usage. On being contacted about the issue OnePlus said: “We are aware of this issue and we will be issuing an update to address it.”
OnePlus 7 Pro -Issue
As Android Police notes, one of the users who go by “pseudonym pappschlump” on the OnePlus Community forums has claimed that the random shutdown issue on the OnePlus 7 Pro occurs due to a null pointer reference in the kernel.
“Viewing the logs brought up no clear answer what’s wrong,” the user said. “One of the last Messages always is ‘Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000010’.”
The solution to this problem will be released by the OnePlus in an OTA update. But there is no certain date for the update to arrive, We expect the solution to this problem arrives with OnePlus’s Monthly update for the month of August.
OnePlus 7 Pro is OnePlus’s ambitious flagship smartphone with most of the industry firsts in this smartphone but such issues in a Flagship smartphone which is not at all light on the pocket seems frustrating. This issue is very rare, but still has a potential of dropping Sales and brand loyalty.
