Xiaomi Poco F1 vs OnePlus 6: Comparison of the Budget flagships
Xiaomi introduced a new smartphone sub-brand Poco in India. Poco unveiled the new Poco F1 as its first phone, The smartphone brings Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 at a very low cost. In a statement, Company executive revealed that the company will focus on features which actually count rather than making an all round phone.
The main feature of this smartphone is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 at heart. There are a few smartphones with similar hardware such as OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and others.
Here is an in-detail comparison of the OnePlus’s flagship OnePlus 6 and Xiaomi’s new offering Poco F1.
The Poco F1 sports a 6.18-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with an integrated LiquidCool Technology. Which keeps the phone cool on heavy performance.
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Poco F1 features a dual camera setup. There is a primary 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor the same sensor that Xiaomi uses in smartphones like Mi 8 and Mi Mix 2s. Additionally, the camera 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor from Samsung. The front 20-megapixel camera also has HDR and AI Beautify features with an IR scanner at the notch for Better facial recognition.
Powered by a 4000 mAh battery, the phone supports the Quick charge 3.0+. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android Oreo-based Miui 9, Soon the firm will switch to Miui 10 on Android Pie. The phone also has its own Poco launcher, which gives stock like App drawer in MiUi skin.
The OnePlus 6 features a 6.28-inch Full Hd+ AMOLED display with Gorilla glass protection and a glass back at back without any specified protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 6/8GB of RAM.
On the Camera front, the OnePlus 6 hosts a dual camera set up at the back, consisting of a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel colour lenses on the rear and a 16-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The OnePlus 6 runs Android 8.1 Oreo with the Oxygen OS skin over it and is powered by a 3300mAh non-removable battery.
The phone comes with Company’s Acclaimed Dash Charging. Also has special gaming modes in which notification doesn’t interrupt gaming. Also, the phone is expected to be updated Android Pie within 1 month of the stale launch.
Design and Display
Oneplus 6 has a tall frame All-glass unibody design. Features a small Notch on the top of the screen with very fine Chin beneath. The smartphone sports an AMOLED display which produces Sharp and Vibrant colours. The phone looks huge but the company has crafted well to fit properly in Hand.
The Poco F1 has a wider frame as compared to the OnePlus. Sporting Plastic (good quality) at the back, the phone misses out on finishing doesn’t gives a premium look but is grippy and feels solid in hand. The phone brings an additional IR sensor at the front has a bigger notch and very huge Chin which nullifies the use of notch in the first place.
Winner – OnePlus 6
The Poco supports Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with Integrated LiquidCool technology. Which helps the smartphone to maintain the temperature of the device on High performance. On a long span of Heavy usage, the phone is expected to get least warm. While the phone comes with 6GB/8GB RAM options, which are enough for every task. Powered on a battery of 4000 mAh phone is expected to last more than a day on call.
OnePlus, on the other hand, brings the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6/8GB RAM options. With a glass at back the phone doesn’t have any heating issues but will get red Hot on prolonged Usage. Sporting a lower battery capacity of 3300 mAh phone gives lesser usage on the same charge. Dash charge of the phone is quite impressive but misses out on Wireless charging despite being glass back phone.
OnePlus has had a good track record with the camera. The Dual shooter at the back, packs in 16MP and a 20mp sensors which perform great in special lighting conditions. Not a quite good reputation stands its Front 16MP shooter. The back camera brings quite a good output on video recording EIS.
Poco has a 12MP+5MP combination at the back. While the camera has not been tested in every condition but has an issue in the Low light situations and lack details. While the front camera in this device has the Same sensor as seen in MI8 performs really well in all lighting conditions. Also brings an IR scanner for better Facial recognition.
Winner – Tie
The smartphones look evenly put against each other but aren’t actually put against as the Poco costs very less as compared to the OnePlus 6. There is a difference of Rs 14000 for the 6gb+64Gb variant of both the phones. The Oneplus 6 starts at Rs 34,999 and Poco F1 start at Rs 20,999.
Poco is a more budget-friendly version of OnePlus, dropping NFC which has no particular usage in India. Poco suits appealing for people who want to save a buck and also have Flagship performance. While the whole non-premium avatar doesn’t affect them.
OnePlus has already been in the market for past 3 Months and have recorded its sales record, having a wireless charging would have made the phone prettier. The Oneplus suits appealing for the users who want flagship performance but not prolonged. Also gets affected by the looks of the phone or admires the AMOLED display and near stock experience.
