Samsung Galaxy Note 8 unveiled with 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen and more
After the Note7 fiasco, Samsung needed to back at the throne of High-end Phablet market. Without doing any more PR stunts, or going over board Samsung has worked towards making a perfect device. Today’s launch featured huge improvements in the device with S-Pen and Dual-camera setup.
This year S-Pen can do a ton this year, unlike previous years where it was nothing more than a Stylus. This year with an improved design, S-Pen is the finest it’s ever been, it has multiple levels of pressure sensitivity and is water proof. You can take 100 pages of notes in the Screen off mode, which automatically gets activated when you take out the S-Pen. New Live message feature is a very similar rip off of Apple’s digital touch iMessage. These live messages are saved as GIFs so it’s easier to share across platforms.
Samsung has done good in the camera department, with dual 12MP camera setup. One lens is a regular/ wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/1.6 and a telephoto lens of aperture f/2.4 with both lenses having optical image stabilization. Samsung says they offer better portrait capabilities than the iPhone 7 Plus. The device also has a dual tone LED flash with lenses having upto 10x digital zoom.
The front of the device has an 8MP front facing camera lens with an aperture of f/1.7.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED infinity display. Unfortunately, the awkward position of the fingerprint sensor is similar to that of the S8. Which means lenses will be full of smudges. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC in the US and is powered by Exynos 8895 octa-core 10nm chipset. The device will be available in 3 different storage capacities, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB which are all expandable through microSD.
Galaxy Note 8 will have 6 GB of RAM, and a battery of 3300 mAh. The device will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The device is also IP68 water and dust resistant. With the glass back the phone supports wireless charging, with Type-C connectivity on board. The device also has the fan favourite 3.5mm Audio jack and the device will come bundled with AKG earphones.
