Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ With variable aperture camera’s and more launched: Price Specification and Availability
Technological Gaint, Samsung just unveiled their latest flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have been unveiled at MWC at Barcelona. The latest Galaxy S9 series smartphones add on to the Galaxy S8 design. They can be said a more refined version of the S8. The new smartphones come with a slew of features such as variable aperture sensor on the primary rear camera. Also, the larger S9+ sports dual rear camera setup. Also, features like AR Emojis, Bixby Vision, AKG-tuned dual speakers, reduced bezels on the top and bottom, and faster processors are new. The official launch date of the smartphone is set for March 16 in select markets. However, in the US, pre-orders begin from March 2.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ features
The USP of the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ is its dual aperture setup on the primary rear camera. The sensor can change between f/1.5 and f/2.4 based on the light. The company says this enables Galaxy S9 and S9+ to capture 28 percent more light than before. This also helps in noise reduction as per the company. These cameras can also capture 0.2 seconds of video in super slow-motion mode. This will stretch the video to 6 seconds with 960 frames per second.
The smartphone also packs ARmoji. This is basically the same thing we had seen on the iPhone X with the Animoji. Another upgrade to the smartphones is the dual speaker setup. While one fires to the bottom, the other fires from the top ie the earpiece. This makes the S9 series 1.8 times louder than its predecessor. Also, the smartphones have support for Dolby Atmos surround system.
The smartphone also has a repositioned fingerprint sensor. This solves the problem many of the S8 and s8+ users had due to the position of fingerprint sensor placement.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ specifications
The Galaxy S9 and the S9+ sports a 10nm 64-bit octa-core SoC (2.7GHz Quad and 1.7GHz Quad in some markets, 2.8GHz Quad and 1.7GHz in other markets). The smartphone will be available in 64/ 128/ 256GB storage options. The devices also support micro-sd cards with up to 400GB. You will get the same IP68 water + dust resistance as the S8. For the selfies, both the smartphones have an 8-megapixel front camera with a f/1.7 sensor.
The smaller Samsung Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED display. It comes with an 18.5:9 resolution. The smartphone also has 4GB of RAM coupled with a 3000mAh battery. For the optics, it has a 12-megapixel autofocus f/1.5-f/2.4 sensor.
On the other hand, the larger Samsung S9+ sports a 6.2-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED display. It has the same resolution as its smaller counterpart. However, it comes with an upgraded 6GB of RAM coupled with a 3500mAh battery. The S9+ also a sports a dual rear camera setup. Both of the cameras are 2-megapixel autofocus f/1.5-f/2.4 sensor. However, the second sensor has a fixed aperture of f/2.4.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S9 starts at $719.99 for the base 64Gb model. Whereas, the bigger Samsung S9+ starts at $839.99 for the base model. Both the devices will go on sale on March 16th. However, the pre-orders in the US start on March 2nd.
