Sony effectively asking Xperia XZ1/XZ2 users facing display problems to just deal with it!
Sony’s Xperia lineup of smartphones isn’t doing well in terms of sales. Especially their high-end flagship XZ series. There have been a lot of reports from users of Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ2 series of smartphones. They have been complaining that there are white dots and lines appearing on the display when rubbing with fingers to remove fingerprints and clean screen. Thats something thats a fault in the display.
The Japanese company has finally come out with an official statement regarding the matter. The company is saying that the behavior is due to electrostatic (stationary electric charges) in some models. Also, they say something unheard in before.
Sony Mobile is committed to providing the highest standard of product quality and customer service for all of our products. Due to the characteristic of the display, you may see stripe patterns as a result of electrostatic in some models. This is not a functional defect and usually the stripe patterns fade away as the electrostatic disappears.
So the company is saying that the displays are not defective but its a feature? If we understand clearly, that statement is a massive f*** you by the company. They mean that nothing can be done by the company. The displays are like this. Users facing the issue can just deal with it. Thats like saying, when the Note 7 started exploding, “oh so don’t let the battery explode” and burying the problem. Considered, its not exploding but its a problem in their smartphones none the less.
Considering, it’s not a huge problem. As per the users and the company’s statement, the lines or dots fade away after some time. However, it is still a problem indeed. It’s not kind of an experience one expects from $800+ premium flagship smartphone. Sony should take a look into the matter and fix the issue.
