Xiaomi Mi A1 starts receiving Android Oreo update, enabling fast charging and more
Xiaomi recently launched the Special Edition Red colour variant for the Mi A1. With that checked off, Xiaomi is finally delivering their promise to update the Mi A1 to Android Oreo. During the launch of the device, the company promised the Android Oreo update before the end of 2017. As the year is about to end there isn’t any sign of the final build but the company has started delivering beta builds to some of its users.
If the beta test continues and is successful, we will be seeing the Android Oreo update for the Mi A1 early next month. However, it’s not an open beta program. Xiaomi invited its users using a Mi Forum post to register for the beta build and few of them were selected. This means the software is in its final stages.
The update will bring the features of the Android Oreo such as Picture-in-Picture mode, Autofill API, notification dots, redesigned settings application and notification shade and much more. People who tested the beta also reported that the Android Oreo on the device runs much smoother than Android Nougat.
Apart from the Android Oreo update, this update brings the fast charging feature. The Snapdragon 625 on the Mi A1 support the feature but it wasn’t enabled. Though the fast charger is not included in the box, users can head over to the local or online stores to grab one.
