Xiaomi’s Android One Mi A2 might be coming sooner than expected

Xiaomi, recently launched its new bezel-less Redmi 5 series which seemed to have all phones with 18:9 aspect ratio display except the Redmi 5A which is the entry-level variant. Xiaomi’s Mi handle on Weibo has announced the launch of the new Mi A2/ Mi 6X phone in China on April 25.

But as the device seemed to on TENAA’s website it appears very similar to their latest unveiling Redmi Note 5 pro. with the vertical camera module and fingerprint sensor placement.


The Mi A2 which is expected to be the Android variant of Mi 6X. The smartphone will be seen to sport a 5.99-inch display, and its images indicate it will sport an 18:9 aspect ratio. under the hood, the smartphone will be running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 paired with 4Gb and 6Gb RAm options. Powered by a battery of 3000 mAh with USB type-C connectivity for faster charging.

In the optics department, There is the same vertical camera module as sported in the Redmi Note 5 which is said to have Flagship imaging Quality. featuring a 20-megapixel primary image sensor with a f/2.0 aperture on top, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with a f/1.8 aperture. On the front, the smartphone is rumoured to have a 20-megapixel image sensor with a f/2.0 aperture on top.

From the Images, it doesn’t look to have a Notch design but it will be confirmed after the launch event which is expected to be on April 25th  in China.

Price and availability

There are no exact comments on the price section as there hasn’t been an exact image of how the phone will appear. But it will be costlier to the Redmi note 5, Suggesting Mi-series is the premium and Redmi is Budget.

The launch event is scheduled for April 25th in China. India may get the hands on it later in Q2, maybe coinciding with the launch of Moto G6.

Note:-  Looking at the extreme similarities, there looks a possibly for Mi A2 be the Android One variant of Redmi Note 5 itself. And there may not be the launch of Mi 6X.
